How nutrition can help

Why most diets fail

Very restrictive diets can be hard to maintain and lead to a loss of muscle mass. The support aims for gradual changes, adapted to your health and your daily life. Cognitive restriction often fuels cravings, guilt and a degraded relationship with food.

Sustainable loss rests on a moderate deficit (300–500 kcal/day), sufficient protein intake, adapted physical activity, restorative sleep and a realistic handling of stress and social meals.

The practice's method

Every pathway starts with a full assessment: weight history, habits, professional and family constraints, recent lab tests, current treatments. From that assessment, a realistic eating plan is co-designed with you — no imposed menu, no forbidden food, but clear markers.

  • Full nutritional and anthropometric assessment (weight, waist, body composition)
  • A discussed, realistic weight target over 3, 6 and 12 months
  • Individualised protein / carb / fat plan aligned with your cultural preferences
  • Concrete strategies for meals at the office, canteen, restaurant and events
  • The pace of follow-up consultations is set with you and adjusted to your needs and your progress

Expected results and timeline

As an indication only, installing new habits and then stabilising usually takes several months; this is not a fixed timetable. The pace of follow-up consultations is set with you and adjusted to your needs and your progress.

What belongs to your physician

Diagnosis, tests and medical treatment remain your doctor's responsibility. Dietetic support adapts to them and, with your agreement, a report is sent to your doctor.

Preparing your appointment

Your first consultation, in practical terms

The initial assessment consultation (anamnesis) lasts 60 minutes, both within the CNS-covered pathway and as a private consultation. Here is what is useful to bring and what is covered.

Useful to bring

  • Your medical prescription if you are seeking CNS coverage, together with your social security card.
  • Any recent blood tests you have (blood sugar, lipid panel, thyroid).
  • The list of your current treatments and supplements.
  • Your weight landmarks over recent years, even approximate, and what you have already tried.

What is explored

  • Weight history, methods already followed and any regain.
  • A typical eating day, working hours and meals eaten away from home.
  • Same-day measurements: weight and waist circumference, plus a body-composition analysis (Biody Xpert) when it is indicated and available at the chosen practice.
  • Physical activity, sleep and the situations that trigger cravings.

What you may receive

  • When a personalised eating plan is drawn up, it is the subject of the 45-minute consultation dedicated to it (act ZD12 within the CNS-covered pathway; the same consultation at private rates outside that framework) and is explained to you step by step.
  • Concrete markers for building your meals rather than a list of forbidden foods.

How progress is assessed

  • Follow-up takes place in dedicated 30-minute consultations, at the practice or by video. The pace of follow-up consultations is set with you and adjusted to your needs and your progress.
  • Weight and waist circumference compared with the initial measurements, rather than the scale alone.
  • Day-to-day markers: fullness, energy, meal regularity, meals out handled without stress.

If the recommendations are hard to follow

A plan that is hard to keep to is not a failure — it is information. In consultation, the specific sticking point is identified (evening meals, travel, canteen) and the goal is brought back to a single realistic step before going further.

Frequently asked questions about weight loss

There is no single pace that suits everyone: goals are gradual and adapted to your situation, your health and your daily life. Losing weight too fast is often hard to maintain and may come with a loss of muscle mass.

No. The practice does not forbid any food. Sustainable loss rests on a moderate deficit, adequate protein intake and gradual rebalancing, not on deprivation.

The duration varies from one person to another; as an indication, several months are usually needed. The pace of follow-up consultations is set with you and adjusted to your needs and your progress.
